Ultra Violet Pond Filters Can Benefit Your Pond
A Great Deal
When you want to keep
your outdoor pond water clean and clear, you may
want to invest in ultra violet pond filters.
Although it is not
recommended that you use ultra violet pond
filters exclusively in your outdoor ponds, when
you use them in addition to other pond filters
you will have a greater chance of enjoying nice,
clear pond water.
How ultra violet pond filters work is relatively
simple. Pond water passes through the UV filters
and then the UV light inside of the filter kills
any of the algae that may be in that water. When
it dies, it clumps together. Once it clumps like
that, your other pond filters can go to work
trapping it and cleaning it out of your pond
water. Since UV pond filters do not trap and
remove the large debris found in your pond,
other pond filters (like biological and
mechanical pond filters) are needed in your
outdoor water area!
Ultra violet pond filters are your best defense
against the algae the lives in your pond. If you
don’t have this type of filter, you will tend to
get large “algae blooms” on those warm, sunny
days when you would most enjoy your pond. Who
can enjoy a pond when its water is a pea-soup
green? Even if your pond is at this soupy green
stage, installing the UV pond filters will
restore your pond to a cleaner, clearer level in
just a short time!
There are a couple different types of UV pond
filters to choose from. There is a submersible
variety and an external variety. The submersible
variety is especially nice, as it is out of
sight and not cluttering up the pretty pond
area.
Having UV pond filters is something extra, but
most who have installed them appreciate the
clean, clear water in their ponds!
